Faith & Action
Quakers & the First World War
Birmingham
This project was in three parts over 3 years duration.
Part One
2014 I was invited to design an exhibition to mark the centenary of the Quakers and First World War.
From that initial meeting we established the Title of the Project and that It would require an identity. The Logo was born and the project began.
Numerous drafts were created for the initial design before the decision made for the one presented here.
The content was being written by specialist Quaker Historians Dr. Betty Hagglund and Dr. Rebecca Wynters. Images sourced from numerous publications and places including the Imperial War Museum.
Part Two
The exhibition ran for 6 months in 2015 at Birmingham Museum Trust, and Art Gallery in the City Centre.
Numerous items inc. Leaflets, Posters, Museum TV Screen Display and Exhibition Panels were designed and created for the Project as well as artefacts for the social history of the project.
Part Three
In 2017 a suite of four 24 page Booklets were designed and published for another element to the WW1 centenaries commemorations. Written by Dr. Sian Roberts and Dr. Rebecca Wynters. Contributors from all over the UK produced the content of the four booklets. It was my job to make sense of all the information given, written, sourced and make a cohesive visual product for the project.
